PYTHON AS A FIRST PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE FOR UNIVERSITIES
Abstract. For teaching of algorithms, data structures and programming at the beginners level there is the need for simple programming tools, which do not stay on the students way to the solution of the interesting, real problems on computers. The programming language Python with simple, clear syntax, many ready-made modules (libraries), automatic memory management and the possibility of object-oriented programming is very capable as the first language for the Computer Science students and also for non-programmers, who are studying various subjects is science and engineering. In this article we will show the advantages and disadvantages of using Python on the base of numerous Internet articles and discussions and also on the base of our experience gained by teaching several mathematical and computer science courses.
